again, to get us started:
Natasha had a great suggestion, practiced in one of her classes with 'Google waves' that we can try for our blog:
Let's start with 'Twitter-esque' short comments building on each other, like a brainstorming conversation, then get more substantial as we flesh out some ideas.
So log on + allow 'remember password' - to make login quick + painless. Can we some first round of ideas from all by Tuesday? The German group has class on Wednesday + will do the same in person. Would be great to compare notes on Thursday.

I think it might be a good idea if we start by knowing what everyone's strong points are for this project. I have backstage experience. I also know how to paint/draw. And I know photoshop and after effects for animation. So I could help if we need to build some sets. I am not opposed to acting but I am not a very good dancer.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point. I know a basic level of photoshop and am currently taking After Effects. I'm a good actor and don't mind doing some scenes. I also don't mind taking a lead to make sure things get done. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteThanks all, Don is that you "Yankee Car Star"?
ReplyDeleteI have a background in graphic design (especially typography), I love motion graphics (After Effects) and I also have a strong background in music composition (film scoring) and filmmaking (short films, abstract) and SOME acting and will contribute using any of those mediums, all of those mediums, or whatever needs to be done.
ReplyDeleteDancing is defiantly not my strong suite acting probably isn't either, although I did play one of two winged monkeys in our 3rd grade play of the Wizard of Oz. I think I'm better off behind the scene. Maybe something with 3D or After Effects.
ReplyDeleteI am very flexibly in terms of fitting in wherever. Post production on sound and video is my strong point. I am willing to do stage design and engage in live performances. As for graphics I think I will bring a different perspective to any project using Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
ReplyDeleteI (Catherine) am not strong with digital editing or Photoshop or Illustrator, but I appreciate smooth editing, and I look forward to collaborating. I have a background in photography. I believe we should consider which media we want to use for our project(s).
ReplyDeleteI study history of decorative arts/design, and I like gathering/arranging objects. The idea of creating a video collage and perhaps projecting fonts on the stage intrigues me. Anciently I took modern dance and have also worked on student films. I like the lines of the metal jewelry and textiles that Anni Albers created. But what does looking back at it mean for us today?
Thank you, all!
ReplyDeleteWe seem to have a wide range of skills - tending towards the post production side.
Next step would be to think about a concept that does not exceed time or skills - or on the positive: makes good use of what we can do in the time-frame we have.
Let's think of a concept as an overriding theme, aesthetically and formally. As a start:
A theme or message.
Think of yourself as a Digital or Contemporary 'Bauhäusler'(as the students then called themselves)- so you are the filter of the Bauhaus concepts of a convergence of Art + Design, of embracing + re-appropriating new technologies, of a "Gesamtkunstwerk" that will use many of our skills for a project neither one of us could do alone.
Let's start with simple ideas, like tossing coins into a hat.
